This May, the Palo Alto Public Art Program will bring The Blue Trees, an internationally acclaimed environmental artwork by artist Konstantin Dimopoulos, to King Plaza in downtown Palo Alto. Using water-based, environmentally safe pigment, Dimopoulos and community volunteers will color the tree trunks a striking cobalt blue, inspiring discussion about deforestation. An ephemeral work, the trees gradually revert back to their natural state. As part of Dimopoulos’s visit to Palo Alto, members of the public are invited to attend an artist talk and reception on Wednesday, May 16, 5:30-7:30. Hosted by the Public Art Program, the free event will feature speakers from Canopy and City Urban Forestry in conversation with the artist, live music by John Henry’s Farm, 6:30-7:30, and complementary refreshments.
